Go Bright For Sight Colour Run returns to Droitwich this Saturday

THE ANNUAL Go Bright For Sight Colour Run returns to Droitwich this Saturday, June 24 at the town’s Lido Park.

Participants, who can run, jog or walk, start the course dressed in white before journeying 5K through several paint stations.

By the time the finish line comes, everyone is fully covered in a variety of coloured paint and full of smiles, having raised cash for Sight Concern.

Fiona Blake, the charity’s fund-raising manager, said the first one last year was such a memorable event.

“We’re excited about painting even more people red, blue, green and purple as they pass through our Paint Stations.”

She added the organisation was delighted Fortis Living and Modus Creative were joining again as the blue and green paint station sponsors and were thrilled to welcome Nicol and Co, the new purple paint station sponsor.

She also thanked the Heart of Worcestershire College which is sponsoring the special Go Bright for Sight T-shirts.

Jacqui Morley-Brooker, from Droitwich based AKW which is sponsoring the red paint station, said: “Our business manufactures and supplies kitchen and bathroom products for people who live with reduced mobility and sensory awareness, including for those who live with reduced vision.

“So, we couldn’t think of a better way to support our local community and a cause which is very close to our hearts than support Sight Concern’s 2017 Colour Run.

“Our staff couldn’t wait to get involved and so as well as manning our Red Paint Station, some of our staff will be part of ‘Team AKW’ who will participate in the run itself, raise additional sponsorship and have loads of fun in the process.”

The event is suitable to walkers and runners of all ages.

Entry fees, which include the cost of the paint stations, entertainment and a pair of neon sunglasses, are £13 adults, £7.50 children over three. Those three and under go free and students’ admission is £8.50.

A family ticket is £33 for a family of four, teams of ten or more are £10 each.

The entry fee helps towards the cost of putting on the event and people are also urged to gain sponsorship.
