THIS YEAR’s Droitwich Spa Food and Drink Festival will be officially opened by Great British Bake Off finalist Steven Bailey-Carter.
The event, on June 16 and 17, will take place again at the town’s Lido Park, following the success of last year’s event at that venue.
The opening by the baker and MP Nigel Huddleston will take place at 10am on the Saturday and Mr Bailey-Carter will demonstrate a range of dishes, alongside local chefs and food producers.
The festival, now in its sixth year, features 100 foodie stalls including award-winning Churchfields Ice Cream and Croome Cuisine Cheeses.
It has a strong emphasis on local produce with 90 per cent of exhibitors coming from within a 30-mile radius.
There will be entertainment in the bandstand from several acts, including Jamie Knight, Richard Leache’s Jazz Band, Droitwich Community Choir and Acorn Antiques Ukulele Band.
There will also be a special children’s entertainment area which is being sponsored by Worcestershire Country Council and Wychavon District Council.
It will feature bouncy castles, the Award Winning Vegetable Theatre with the infamous Madame Zucchini, face painting, a History Discovery tent, a pedal your own smoothie bike and the opportunity to play tennis in the park’s brand new £40,000 tennis courts.
The Droitwich Spa Food and Drink Festival is fast building a reputation as one of the leading foodie festivals in the Midlands.
