THE PARTNERS and staff at Droitwich’s Corbett Medical Practice are celebrating after receiving an ‘Outstanding’ ranking from the Care Quality Commission which puts it in the top four per cent of GP surgeries in England.
Inspectors found the practice provided a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led service that met the needs of its patients.
Areas graded as outstanding included that a GP had been involved in securing funding and setting up the Droitwich Dementia Centre, that the practice took part in a social prescribing pilot, offering additional support for patients with poor mental health and that it had produced a ‘booklet of opportunity’ to promote the professional development available there. That, the report said, counteracted any difficulties in recruiting GPs.
Probably the most impressive and encouraging was that feedback from patients themselves about the treatment received was also ‘consistently and strongly positive’.
The practice’s partners told The Standard: “We’re delighted the quality of care provided by all members of our practice team is recognised and so highly valued, especially when General Practice is under such pressure.
“This result reflects our strong team ethos.
“We look forward to continuing to work closely with our fellow practices and community providers to benefit the local population.”
Janet Williamson, the Central region CQC’s deputy chief inspector of General Practice and dentistry, said the practice provide an ‘effective, responsive and well-led service which was an asset to its patients’.
“All of this hard work pays off in making a real difference to patients – which is why we have found this practice to be outstanding,” she said.
