THERE was a buzz of excitement in the air at St Peter’s C of E First School in Droitwich when children welcomed the new year by celebrating the magic of India .

From busting Bollywood moves with dance company, Bollywood Vibes, to drumming lessons with Primary Workshops for Schools Ltd, it was a vibrant week of cultural activities.

There was also a workshop explaining the art of making chapattis and the use of spices.

On Geography Day, they studied climate, landmarks and India’s diversity of lifestyles – comparing the less fortunate to the privileged.

There was also an Art Day with tile printing, tie-dye and other creative activities.

The week was made possible thanks to contributions from various establishments – including papadums and chutneys from Raj Tandoori and Dilshad Indian restaurants, gift vouchers from Morrisons and a large donation from Friends of St Peter’s.

The children were very grateful for the opportunity to participate and enjoyed the colourful range of activities in their first week back at school.
